BESPOKE MEDIA UNITS IN SALCOMBE

Our Craft, Your Vision

At TRS Bespoke Interiors, we design and handcraft bespoke media units for homes across Salcombe, each with expert craftsmanship, quality materials and a passion for bringing your vision to life, all from our workshop in the Devon countryside.

With every Salcombe home having its own unique character and charm from one street to the next, from the boat sheds and net lofts converted into homes along Island Street to the beachfront properties around North Sands and South Sands, we make sure to take a completely personalised approach to each and every design. No matter where in Salcombe you call home, our team handcrafts each bespoke media unit specifically for you, your individual tastes and your unique home's architectural details and features.

Though our workshop is based inland in the Devon countryside, our craftsmen are regularly on the road down this stretch of the South Devon coast, and that same dedication to handcrafted excellence travels with them into every Salcombe home we work in.

TRULY BESPOKE DESIGNS FOR TOPSHAM HOMES

A living room with a dark blue entertainment center featuring open shelves, decorated with various plants, framed photos, sculptures, and decorative items. A large flat-screen TV is mounted in the center, above a wooden console table. A vase with pink tulips is on the table, along with candles and small decorative objects. A yellow pendant lamp hangs in the foreground, illuminating the space.

Salcombe's homes are shaped by its long history as a sailing and fishing town on the Kingsbridge Estuary. Island Street holds many of the town's old boat sheds and net lofts, now converted into homes with high ceilings and exposed timber trusses, whilst Fore Street's buildings sit closer to the water's edge, with colourful frontages and flats built above the shops below.

Further out, along Cliff Road and Devon Road, the steep hillside houses look down over the estuary with narrower, more vertical floor plans, and further still, the larger properties around Snapes Point sit on more generous plots with a different scale of room altogether.

Whatever your Salcombe home's design, we can work with its unique characteristics to create your bespoke media unit.

A bespoke media unit quickly transforms any space into the gathering space of your home, where loved ones get together for film nights, friends catch up for sports events, the kids take their gaming experience to the next level, or you simply unwind after a busy day watching your favourite show.

Each piece is handcrafted from within our Devon workshop under the direction of Tom Stokes, whose over 15 years of international design and craftsmanship experience have shaped a philosophy rooted in personalisation and unwavering quality standards. Traditional hand skills are brought together with modern craft techniques, producing a finish that effortlessly becomes the centrepiece of any room it's in.

Discreet cable storage and extra drawer space keep the finished piece feeling organised and uncluttered while still incorporating a stunning focal point that reflects your unique style and tastes.

"Tom did a fantastic job for me. He thought long and hard about the best way to build my shelves. I wanted floating shelves; they are even better than I imagined. He's also an easy person to have around. Thanks, Tom!"

LOCAL DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR TOPSHAM HOMES

Salcombe's shopfront conversions along Fore Street often come with narrow, deep floor plans and limited wall space, so fitting a media unit means making the most of your available space, adding bespoke hand finishes and detailling to make it feel truly special and uniquely yours. You might instead live further up the hill along Devon Road, where many of the homes are substantial Edwardian properties. These spaces often feature high ceilings, traditional alcoves, and large bay windows designed to frame the estuary views, which require carefully thought-out designs that complement the room's layout and its period features.

Or perhaps you're a homeowner in Batson, where the mix of bungalows and converted properties tends to bring lower ceilings and more compact living rooms, calling for a design that works quietly within a smaller footprint. Whatever the design of your Salcombe home, we can create a bespoke creation that accommodates all its quirks and uniqueness.

ONLY THE FINEST MATERIALS

For one of the larger properties around Snapes Point, that might mean oak with a fumed finish, paired with custom oak handles and a palette of warm stone and taupe tones that sit comfortably against generous windows looking out over the water. For a home near Millbay, homeowners might prefer a deeper black walnut with a stained finish, brushed bronze hardware and a touch of hand-painted cabinetry for warmth. Whether it's fluted detailing, scalloped edges or a simple, pared-back finish, each one chosen to bring a sleek, modern feel or timeless authenticity to the finished space and to earn its place within the design in a way that helps bring your vision to life.

Every bespoke media unit we design for our Salcombe clients is developed entirely around your individual tastes and your specific home's architectural characteristics, and we take real pride in delivering results that consistently exceed expectations. We remain committed to sourcing only the finest materials available to us, maintaining our unwavering attention to detail and our uncompromising quality standards throughout, so your finished media unit brings together lasting beauty and durability for a design built to serve you for years to come.

UNMATCHED CRAFTSMANSHIP FOR HOMES ACROSS TOPSHAM

From the beachfront homes around North Sands to the hillside houses along Cliff Road, the waterside setting of Millbay and the quieter streets of Batson, Salcombe is a town built up of small, distinct pockets of property, architecture and style. Every one of these areas brings its own charm, character and homes with individual proportions, which we take into account during our bespoke design process every single time.

We understand that your bespoke media wall quickly becomes the focal point of any room it sits in, where film nights, sports events and quiet evenings all happen in the same space. TRS's bespoke approach combines expert craftsmanship with modern techniques to create designs that are elegant, layered with warmth, and made to be lived in, producing results that allow for cinematic experiences with a personal touch.

Every project we take on in Salcombe starts with time spent understanding the property itself, from the way light moves through the room across the day to the particular quirks of a period building or the clean lines of something more recently built. It's only once we understand the home properly that we begin designing, so the finished media unit feels as though it was always meant to be there, handcrafted specifically around the way you and your loved ones actually live.

WHY TOPSHAM HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE TRS FOR THEIR BESPOKE MEDIA UNITS

Salcombe homeowners tend to come to us with a property that already has plenty of character built in, whether that's a waterside view worth designing around or a period feature that needs a more thoughtful approach, and our bespoke process means we can build a design around exactly what's already there, instead of asking the homeowner to compromise around it.

Whether you're a homeowner near South Sands or along Devon Road, we bring the same level of care to designing a media unit that fits the room precisely, without losing the sense that the design was made specifically for that individual home.

Our immersive 3D design service also means you can walk through your new media unit, room by room and angle by angle, long before any of it has been built, giving you complete confidence in the design well ahead of the first cut being made.
