TRS Bespoke Interiors designs and handcrafts bespoke dressing rooms for homeowners throughout Torbay, from the Victorian villas of Wellswood and the Warberries in Torquay to the seafront properties of Preston in Paignton, along with the characterful homes overlooking Brixham's working harbour.
Our workshop sits in the beautiful Devon countryside, and our team of skilled craftsmen travels down to this stretch of the English Riviera regularly, bringing the same dedication to handcrafted excellence to every Torbay project, committed to designing beautiful bespoke pieces for homes across Devon.
TRULY BESPOKE DESIGNS FOR TORBAY HOMES
Torbay covers three distinct towns, and each brings its own housing stock with it. Torquay's Chelston and Cockington are home to substantial Victorian and Edwardian villas, many built during the town's Victorian heyday and often divided into generous apartments or retained as large family houses, whilst St Marychurch and Babbacombe further along the coast hold a mix of period terraces and more recently built detached homes.
Paignton's Roundham and Goodrington seafront areas combine period promenade properties with newer apartment blocks, and in Brixham, the older streets around Furzeham tend to be more compact, with steep, narrow lanes and cottages that have been standing for generations.
This range of property types across the bay means a bespoke dressing room needs to be approached differently depending on where in Torbay it's being built, whether that's making the most of the high ceilings and deep bay windows typical of a Cockington villa, or working within the tighter footprint of a Furzeham cottage.
It's this variation that makes a fitted, off-the-shelf solution rarely the right fit here, and why every design we create is built entirely around your individual tastes and your unique Torbay home's architectural characteristics.
Tom Stokes founded TRS Bespoke Interiors after building over 15 years of design and craftsmanship experience across projects in both New Zealand and the UK, and it's this breadth of knowledge that continues to shape the unmatched design expertise behind every dressing room our team creates for homeowners in Torbay.
Every piece leaves our Devon workshop having been shaped by hand, bringing traditional craft skills together with more contemporary techniques, so that each design carries the kind of unparalleled craftsmanship built to serve you and your loved ones well for decades of daily use.
"Tom and the team at TRS designed and built us a bespoke media unit and walk-in wardrobe for our new build home. From start to finish, the design process through to a workshop visit to choose finishes and colours felt like a true collaboration of our ideas with his expertise. The quality of the work is excellent, and during the installation process, his team were polite and professional and left the house as clean as they found it. Highly recommend Tom and all at TRS."

LOCAL DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR TORBAY HOMES
Working across Torbay means adapting our approach to three quite different property types. In the larger Victorian villas of Wellswood and the Warberries, we're often designing within period bedrooms that have deep skirting, high ceilings and original coving, and the aim is to build a dressing room that complements these features rather than boxing them in with a generic fitted unit. Many of these properties have also been divided into flats over the years, so we frequently work with awkward, non-standard room shapes that need a truly bespoke measuring and design process.
Homes further out towards Churston and Galmpton tend to sit on larger plots, giving us more room to work with when designing a dedicated dressing space. Around Preston and the Paignton seafront, a good number of homes are more recently built or have been extended over time, giving us more flexibility to design larger, more open dressing spaces, sometimes incorporating an island unit or seating area where the room allows. In Brixham, by contrast, the older harbourside cottages tend to have smaller, steeper staircases and more compact bedrooms, so making full use of every available inch, often with floor-to-ceiling storage and considered internal configurations, becomes the priority.
All of this is part of our design process when handcrafting your bespoke dressing room design.
ONLY THE FINEST MATERIALS
Whether the property in question sits within a Victorian villa in Chelston, a more contemporary apartment along Goodrington seafront, or a period cottage close to Brixham's harbour, the materials we bring into a Torbay project are always chosen with the same standard in mind, selected as much for the way they will age and last as for how they look on the day of installation. That might mean warm oak or walnut veneers, cabinetry finished in a soft stone or taupe tone, hardware in a brushed bronze or antique brass, or fluted and bronzed glass detailing, each one chosen to bring a sleek, modern feel to the finished space and to earn its place within the design rather than simply filling a specification sheet.
Every homeowner we work with in Torbay has their own sense of what makes a space feel right, and it's this individuality that drives our material choices from project to project. Our unwavering attention to detail and our uncompromising quality standards are carried through every stage of sourcing and construction, so the dressing room you're left with brings together lasting beauty and durability for a design built to serve you for years to come.
UNMATCHED CRAFTSMANSHIP FOR HOMES ACROSS TORBAY
St Marychurch and Babbacombe hold a strong mix of period terraces and more recently built homes, whilst Wellswood and Warberry Hill hold some of Torquay's finest period architecture, many properties now divided into elegant apartments whilst others remain substantial family homes set within their own grounds. Along the Paignton coastline, Preston and Goodrington bring together traditional detached houses with newer apartment developments, and further round the bay, Higher Brixham and the streets around Berry Head hold a variety of period and more contemporary properties, many taking advantage of the elevated position and sea views.
With this understanding of Torbay and the varied homes across it, we handcraft each bespoke dressing room uniquely and individually every single time. We believe that the dressing room serves as the heart of personal style, where confidence is built and individual expression is celebrated. TRS's bespoke approach combines expert craftsmanship with modern techniques to create designs that are elegant, layered with warmth, and made to be lived in.
Every project we take on in Torbay starts with time spent understanding the property itself, from the way light moves through the room across the day to the particular quirks of a period building or the clean lines of something more recently built. It's only once we understand the home properly that we begin designing, so the finished dressing room feels as though it was always meant to be there, handcrafted specifically around the way you and your loved ones actually live.

WHY TORBAY HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE TRS FOR THEIR BESPOKE DRESSING ROOMS
Homeowners across Torbay are working with a wide range of property types, from grand Victorian villas to compact harbourside cottages, and this variation is exactly what our design process is built to handle. Rather than offering a generic fitted solution, we take the time to properly understand each property, whether that means preserving original period features in a Wellswood villa or making the absolute most of a tight footprint in a Brixham cottage.
For homeowners in larger, more recently extended properties around Preston and Paignton, we also bring the experience to design bigger, more considered spaces, including island units and seating where the room allows, without losing the sense that the design was made specifically for that home.
Our immersive 3D design service also means you can walk through your new dressing room, room by room and angle by angle, long before any of it has been built, giving you complete confidence in the design well ahead of the first cut being made.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR BESPOKE DRESSING ROOMS IN TORBAY
-
Yes, a good number of our Torbay projects are within Victorian villas that have been converted into flats over the years, which often means working with awkward or non-standard room shapes. We measure and design around the specific proportions of the space rather than working to a standard template, so the finished dressing room fits properly regardless of how the original building has been altered.
-
Absolutely. Compact harbourside cottages are common in Brixham, and we regularly design dressing rooms that make full use of every available inch, often with floor-to-ceiling storage and carefully planned internal layouts, so the space works as hard as possible without feeling cramped.
-
Yes, homes around Preston and the wider Paignton seafront are often more recently built or extended, giving us more scope to design larger, more open dressing spaces. Where the room allows, we can incorporate an island unit or seating area as part of the design.
